Games drop out to desktop when starting

Hi Zeb,

I have the V3 board installed in my cabinet. It has always had a weird issue where it would randomly just lock up. Cabinet buttons would stop working all together. I use PinballX for my front end and most of the times when I opened it up it would work fine. But every few starts, the FE would open up and it would make the sound like I was changing tables with the flipper buttons and it would be locked up. If I unplugged the USB on the plunger and plugged it back in, it would reconnect and work fine. This has been happening since I setup the cabinet.

A few days ago I began noticing a new issue. When starting a table through PinballX, it would start to load the games fine but just as the playfields would normally come on, the main display would drop out tot he desktop. This happens on both VPX and Pinball FX3. I can do an Alt-Tab to cycle through back to the playfield window and it comes back on just fine. Gameplay and button functions seem ok too with the exception that the cabinet button I use to exit (Q) stops working. It never did that before.

I did a lot of troubleshooting the past few days. Disabling options in the apps, not running the x360ce etc. and the only time I get the problem to go away was when I unplug the plunger. I'm not sure if I might be missing an update or something. Like I said, the one issue has been happening sporadically for a long time. The desktop display issue has just been the past few days.

Hi,

What does that error box that comes up on the screen say? That's what is switching the focus away from the game on the playfield.

There is no error screen. The ones that are in the Alt-Tab window that look like an error are actually the x360ce screen and browser window that was opened before I ran the PinballX. I have never seen an error when this happens and it really doesn't stop working, as if an error occurred. It just seems to jump out of the table window yet it is still running in the background.

Have you turned off letting PinballX control the inputs in the PinballX\Config\PinballX.ini file?
I seem to recall by default it wants to use its own assignments. What you are experiencing seems to be PinballX wanting to use its controller setup rather than the xbox360ce settings.

I'll check that today and post the findings later. I only run x360ce when a VPX table loads, so it isn't always running. I have batch files that load and kill it when the VPX table loads and ends.

I don't see a specific setting for key inputs aside from the Run Before batch file that opens the x360ce app. Unless you are saying I should clear out the Joystick settings in Pinballx. I have included the pinballx.ini contents below.
